“Les Philous Gourmands” are based in a property steeped in history, a true testament to the Vendée region’s past. This dwelling, dating from 1760, has stood the test of time and survived the tragic events of the Vendée Wars, notably the dreaded “infernal columns.” Upon entering through the granite gatehouse, one is immediately immersed in the authenticity of a former farmhouse where time seems to stand still.

The stable and barn, built in 1934 by Marie Préau, Louis-Marie’s great-grandmother, recall this era when rural life flourished. Today, the barn proudly displays two oxcart wheels, relics of the past that were used in its construction. The granite used to build the structures comes from the surrounding quarries, further strengthening the property’s connection to its local area.

 The contemporary adventure of Philous Gourmands began in 2018, upon Louis-Marie’s return from China, when he undertook the renovation of the family home. In 2020, his meeting with Philippe injected new energy and the idea of ​​transforming the property into a welcoming haven, with rooms in traditional kota cabins and a table d’hôtes (guest table). February 2023 marked a key milestone with the restoration of the barn into the main residence. The adventure continues, and in 2025, we opened two guest rooms in the form of adjoining kota cabins, ready to welcome our visitors seeking nature and tranquility.
